Hotel conversion for Dublin office block
Findlater House was previously a Dublin office block located on O’Connell Street, which was earmarked for redevelopment into a hotel to serve the city centre.
The building is to become a 198 bed Holiday Inn Express hotel with integrated coffee shop for guests and passers-by on the ground floor.
The works include the complete soft strip of the building, removal of plantrooms, removal of the existing façade, reconfiguration of the internal cores and construction of one additional floor. The new façade will consist of granite cladding with aluminium curtain walling.
Greenwood Louvre was appointed to supply acoustic louvres to the project, managing noise disruption from the plant room for the sake of guests’ getting a good night’s sleep. Greenwood designed the louvre arrangement and followed the project through from inception to installation, with the addition of louvre screens for the plant room and smoke vents to ensure the safety of occupants in the event of a fire.
The site is in what is considered an ‘Architectural Conservation Area’ so Greenwood was careful to be show consideration for the building’s aesthetics during the design and works phases.Back to projects
